FAQs

1.       What is DigMobile?

DigMobile is a web site for creating and delivering ringtones, wallpapers and videos  using your own personal music and picture  files on your PC.. Digmobile allows individuals to crop and clip their pictures and music directly on the site.  There is no software to Download.

Do I need an internet access plan on my phone use DigMobile?

No, you don't need an internet access plan.  Since we send the file directly to your phone via a picture message (MMS) you do not need to connect to the internet.  If you chose a different delivery option other than picture message and you have received a link instead of the file you will need to connect to the internet to download it.  Please check with your service provider about the cost your internet plan.

2.       Will my carrier charge me to download a Picture Message?

It depends on your carrier and your individual service plan. We send a Picture message with the file contained in it directly to your phone.  Your carrier may charge you for text messages.  Most carriers charge about 10 cents per message unless you are on an unlimited plan.

3.       Which audio formats do you support?

We support Mp3 and M4A files for sending ringtones.  We also support bitmap and jpeg files for sending pictures.   We cannot create ringtones from M4P files and other songs protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).  If your format isn't supported, let us know and we'll try to add it to our repertoire.

4.       How do I access DigMobile from my phone?

It's easy, all you need is a DigMobile account and point your web browser on your phone to wap.digmobile.com and login.  (Remember: password here is case sensitive)

5.       How much is this really going to cost me?

We don't charge your phone bill. If you've purchased ringtones from your carrier, or from other website on the internet, you may have noticed charges of $2-$3 per ringtone appearing on your phone bill at the end of the month. We DO NOT put charges on your phone bill. If you haven't whipped out a credit card, or paid us via PayPal, you haven't given us any money.

If we're going to charge you money for anything, it will be very obvious. The buying process is very obvious, you will have to enter a credit card number on the sign up screen.  We currently offer 2 plans:

Unlimited Downloads for 1 Month – Pay only $3.99 and send an unlimited amount of your own music and pictures to your cell phone.  You will also have access to other members uploaded files which you can also easily have sent to your phone.

Unlimited Downloads for 1 Year – For only 14.99 you can get an entire year of Digmobile  Upload unlmited amounts of content to your phone and access hundreds of other peoples shared media.

*Limited Time FREE Trial*

For the next few weeks DigMobile is offering free trials!! This includes 3 FREE media (music, pictures, or video) uploads and access to our shared media.  We would like you to experience our site and technology and then, hopefully if you like it, you might buy a subscription.

You're not signing up for a recurring nightmare. There are a few  ringtone sites on the internet that are really screwing people by tricking them into signing up for a monthly service when they think they're just buying ringtones.   We don't currently sell subscription plans, and if we ever decide to do so, we're going to make the purchase process extremely clear. We want you to use our service because you like it, not because you got tricked into paying for it.

Phone and Carrier Compatibility

1.       Is my carrier (phone company) supported by DigMobile?

Sure it is! Well, OK, here's the deal: we currently connected with over 500 networks in 183 countries worldwide.  If your phone can receive a text message, then most likely is will work.  We encourage you to use our forum to discuss any problems you may have

Is my phone compatible with Digmobile?

Considering we have over  two thousand devices on our large compatibility matrix we hope so.  If you got your phone in the past few years, and it's not one of those dinosaur hand-me-downs, chances are we've got you covered. But there's a really quick and easy way to check: visit our test page and we'll send you a test ringtone to see if your phone is compatible.

Here is a list of some of those "dinosaur" phones that don't currently work with DigMobile because they don't support real music ringtones:

1.       Audiovox CDM-8912

2.       BlackBerry 7100

3.       Motorola i730

4.       Nokia 3590

5.       Nokia 3595

6.       Nokia 6010

7.       Samsung A500

(The requirements for support are basically being able to recieve a picture message and support of MP3, AMR, AWB, MMF, or QCP files for ringtones. Most newer phones meet these requirements.)

The following newer phones don't work because they do not allow you to save downloaded songs as ringtones. (It's a bummer, because they are really nice phones)  These phones DO however allow you to send a picture from DigMobile and save it as a wallpaper:

8.       LG VX5200

9.       LG VX8100

10.   Motorola V710

What if my phone or carrier isn't supported?

Well by all means let us know! We're adding support for new devices and carriers all the time, and we'll be more than happy to send you an email whenever we can support your stuff.

Delivery Options:

1.   Picture Message (Recommended) – At Digmobile we use MMS to deliver the file to your phone.  This means, unlike other sites, that send an SMS with a link to the internet, we send the file directly to your phone, so all you need to do is save it.   We recommend using this delivery option for most phones as it is the easiest way.  If you cannot receive picture message you may want to chose another option.

2.  A link, Via a text message. – Using this option will cause a SMS message to be sent to your phone with a link in it.  If you follow this link you will be able to download your file.  A connection to the internet is required for this.

3.  Attached to an Email – If you know your phones e-mail address, and would like to receive your file through an e-mail chose this option.

4.  In An E-mail – By choosing this option we will convert the file for you and send it to your e-mail address.  You can then put it on your phone via a usb cable.
